What to Expect at Your First Massage
A calm, step-by-step walkthrough so you can relax and enjoy the experience.
1) Before You Arrive
- Walk-ins welcome. Evenings/weekends can be busy—call ahead if you want to avoid any wait.
- Drink some water and avoid heavy meals right before your session.
- Come a few minutes early to settle in and silence your phone.
2) Brief Intake
We’ll ask about any injuries, recent surgeries, pregnancy, or areas you’d like us to focus on or avoid. This helps tailor the session safely.
3) Undressing & Draping
Undress to your comfort level—many clients keep their underwear on, others remove all clothing. You’ll be properly draped with a sheet or towel at all times; only the area being worked on is uncovered.
4) During the Massage
- Pressure: Tell us if you’d like lighter or deeper work at any point.
- “Good hurt” vs pain: Some discomfort on tight spots is normal and often helpful. If it crosses into “bad pain,” say the word and we’ll adjust immediately.
- Talking: Your choice—quiet relaxation or light conversation.
- Focus areas: Neck/shoulders, back, or hands/feet—just ask.
5) Aftercare
- Stand up slowly, drink water, and enjoy the relaxed feeling.
- Mild soreness can happen—like after a good workout. It usually fades within a day.
- Ask about stretches or self-care tips to keep benefits going.
6) Payment & Tipping
Tipping is highly recommended. Our highly trained massage therapists work hard to ensure your comfort and well-being. A tip of 20% or more is customary, and your generosity is always appreciated.

7) How You’ll Feel Afterwards
Most people leave feeling lighter, calmer, and deeply relaxed. It’s normal to have a little soreness the next day—similar to after a good workout—but that’s your body adjusting and releasing tension. Very soon, you’ll notice how much better you feel overall.
